Please note this equation gives only the tyre ratio.

To calculate the tyre ratio on a 4 wheel drive tractor, divide the rolling circumference of the rear tyre, by the rolling circumference of the front tyre. For example; Assuming the rear tyre is a Goodyear 18.4r38 super traction radial, the rolling circumference published by Goodyear is 5212 m.m. Assuming the front tyre is a Goodyear 14.9r28 super traction radial the rolling circumference published by Goodyear is 4033 m.m.
5212 divided by 4033 is 1.2923.That means the front tyre rotates 1.2923 revolutions compared to one revolution of the rear tyre.
If you wish to fit different wheels or tyres, for example, row crops, wider tyres, turf tyres etc. it is important to know exactly the inter-axle ratio at which the tractor is safe to operate. Once the inter-axle ratio is confirmed, suitable tyre options can be verified. The tyre ratio must fall within the inter-axle ratio parameters of the tractor manufacturer.
Fitting tyre and wheel equipment that does not meet the correct ratios can be very expensive, causing transmission damage and rapid tyre wear.
