" I am writing to let you know how pleased Corby Borough
Council is with the concentrate Tyre Sealant which you provided to us.
The OKO z7 is so good, it has eliminated our puncture problems
and the cost benefits to our selves have been considerable.
I am particularly pleased to have found a Tyre Sealant that
performs in line with its claims. The sealed puncture remains a PERMANENT
SEAL and the OKO z7 is long lasting without showing any signs of deterioration."
Mr Dick Flude (Plant& Transport Manager) John-Laing Construction
Limited wrote:
"Eventually, we would like to see Manufacturers putting
OKO into tyres of their vehicles as Original equipment"
Mr Tony Dawe (Agricultural Contractor) wrote:
"I once counted over 100 holes in my front tyres after
just six months, but apart from maintaining the pressure on rare occasions,
we had no downtime caused by punctures".
OKO z7 TYRE SEALANT CONCENTRATE - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
and ANSWERS
Q. How many holes will OKO seal?
A. This depends upon the size of each hole but OKO z7 has sealed permanently
numerous holes in one tyre. A major agricultural contractor reported that
over 100 thorn holes had been sealed
in one tyre and a British Military test showed that 30 holes were sealed in
one tyre.
Q. Will using OKO corrode steel rims?
A. NO.OKO z7 contains strong corrosive inhibitors.
Q. How often does OKO z7 need to be replaced inside a tyre?
A. CORRECTLY dosed, OKO z7 will last the life of the tyre in a slow moving
vehicle, e.g. Tractor, Back hoe loader, ATV's, Grass cutting machines. OKO
z7 does not degrade and will combat numerous puncture situations over a lengthy
period of time.
In some vehicles an annual "top up" is recommended.
Q. How is Industrial OKO applied to a Tyre?
A. For large vehicles, the product is applied by using a Pressure Applicator
Pump. By removing the Valve Core and immediately attaching the pump connector
over the Valve Stem, OKO maybe applied against air pressure. It is not recommended
to pump against pressures above 45 PSI (3.1 BAR).Therefore, if a tyre pressure
is above 45 PSI (3.1 BAR), deflate the tyre until it is possible to pump against
the remaining air pressure. The pump should be primed and then for each complete
up and down stroke of the pump, 200mls of OKO is injected. It is best not
to force the pump handle down nor apply rigorous or hard pressure. Subsequent
to the OKO Application, remove the Pump connector and reinsert the valve core.
Reinflate the tyre to the correct pressure.
Q. Does OKO z7 contain any harmful ingredients?
A. NO. OKO contains no harmful ingredients. OKO z7 is "COSHH" friendly.
(Control of Substances Hazardous to Health).
Q. Is OKO z7 legal? Is it illegal for the user to apply OKO
to tyres and drive on or off road?
A. NO. OKO is not illegal nor would a user be prosecuted for using OKO z7
in vehicle tyres.
Q. Does OKO z7 harm rubber or effect the Tyre Structure adversely?
A. NO. OKO z7 is NOT harmful to rubber. Under Technical Institutional Tests,
no apparent changes occurred in rubber or its components during prolonged
exposure to OKO.
Q. Does OKO z7 stick to the Inner Tube or Tyre?
A. NO. OKO z7 remains fluid inside the tyre. It does not stick to the Inner
Tube or Tyre unlike aerosol Latex based Temporary Repair Sealants.
Q. Can innertubes be patched after an OKO z7 treatment if
required?
A. YES. The puncture area must be cleaned properly and allowed to dry. (BUFSOL
will dry the area).
Q. Will OKO z7 lift patches on innertubes?
A. Provided a patch has adhered properly to the inner tube, OKO z7 will not
interfere with Patches.
Q. Does OKO cause any difficulty or problem if it becomes
necessary to
effect a conventional vulcanised repair, hot or cold cure?
A. NO. OKO z7 may be washed from the Tyre prior to effecting a hot or cold
cure.
However, note that it is possible to effect a conventional repair if required
and leave OKO z7 inside the tyre. Just clean the immediate Area around the
Puncture and allow the OKO z7 to flow to the bottom of the tyre. This was
achieved by TLDT during a British Army trial.
Will Industrial OKO z7 seal holes larger than 7mm in diameter?
A. There have been examples in which OKO z7 has sealed holes up to 10mm. Bolts
with a diameter of 9mm to 11mm have pierced tyres and have been sealed by
OKO z7.
Q. What will occur if the hole is far too large for the OKO
z7 specification?
A. OKO z7 can seal permanently holes caused by puncturing objects with a diameter
of 7mm to 9mm. 93% of all punctures are caused by objects with a diameter
of 5mm or below. Generally, if a hole is too large, OKO z7 will attempt to
seal the hole.
OKO z7 will slow down the escaping air until either the hole
is plugged OR will attempt to block escaping air until it is fully used.
Q. Does OKO function in varied climatic conditions?
A. OKO z7 will function in hot conditions. OKO has used in several countries
with humid / tropical climatic conditions and has been trialled successfully
in Kuwait and Jordan by respective Armed Forces. OKO was used successfully
in vehicles used by as British expedition to The Antarctica.
Q. Is OKO z7 suitable for tyres with inner tubes as well as
tubeless tyres?
A. YES. OKO z7 is equally effective in tubed and tubeless tyres. A problem
associated with tubed tyres is if an inner tube is the incorrect size for
the outer casing. On occasions this occurs and it is valid to demand the tyre
fitter to change the inner tube and fit the correct size.
Furthermore, inner tubes should never be fitted to tubeless tyres.
Q. Can OKO z7 be removed from a tyre?
A. YES. OKO z7 can be washed out of a tyre with copious amounts of water.
Q. What if a puncturing object (e.g. a nail) remains in a
tyre?
A. OKO z7 will seal around a nail. If a nail moves and enlarges the hole then
more OKO z7 will move into the enlarged hole and seal it again. Whilst gaps
around the nail are plugged, OKO z7 may lubricate sufficiently for the nail
to be ejected. In this case, OKO z7 will reseal the hole whilst the tyre is
moving.
Q. If a nail is observed in the tyre, can it be removed?
A. YES..... but, as soon as the nail is pulled from the tyre, drive the vehicle
immediately to enable OKO z7 to form a seal.
Keep the engine running, extract the nail and drive immediately, possibly
for up to a minute or so.
Q. Will tyre manufacturers withdraw their tyre warranty if
OKO z7 is inside a tyre?
A. There is NO VALID reason for a tyre manufacturer to withdraw its tyre warranty
if OKO z7 is inside a tyre. An attempt to withdraw its tyre warranty may contravene
EU law.
Q. Will OKO seal Rim or Bead leaks?
A. OKO z7 was not designed to seal Rim and/or Bead leaks. However, OKO has
been known to seal such leaks. After testing OKO Honda on All Terrain Vehicles
(ATV's / Quads), Honda Canada issued a bulletin advising its dealers that
OKO could be used to solve the problem of rim and bead leaks.
Q. Will OKO seal SideWall Punctures or Side wall Splits?
A. OKO z7 will not seal Sidewall Punctures. Sidewall Punctures cause a major
weakness in the tyre structure and should be resolved by Tyre Replacement.
Q. Will OKO block Valve Apertures during or after application?
A. OKO z7 should not cause a blockage to the Valve Aperture. However, since
OKO z7 is designed to seal holes under pressure, it is important to apply
pressure gently when installing the product.
Q. Can OKO z7 block the Valve Stem from the inside when air
pressure is released after application?
A. NO. OKO z7 flows away from the inside of the valve stem. With the tyre
in a motionless state, OKO z7 will remain as a reservoir at the bottom of
the tyre.
Q. Will particles of OKO z7 matter become lodged under a sealing
washer of the Valve Stem, thus causing slow leaks?
A. There is no evidence that the Viscous Liquid of OKO z7 will clog under
a Sealing Washer.
Q. Will OKO cause Wheel Imbalance in Motor Cars?
A. OKO z7 can cause a wheel imbalance in certain motor cars at certain speeds.
This will occur only if the tyre is over dosed with too much OKO z7.
Q. Does the water content of puncture preventatives penetrate
the tyre casing and lead to degradation of the casing cords?
A. OKO z7 will not damage the tyre. (Refer Question 7). Tyre users may wish
to consider the position of "Water Ballasted" tractor tyres. No
one has suggested that water ballasted tyres are unsafe.
Q. Has OKO ever been specified in a tender situation for Defence
vehicles?.
A. YES. The Ministry of Defence requested a tender for the supply of a number
of Zettelmeyer Wheel Loaders ZL 2002. They required all the tyres of these
vehicles to be equipped with a puncture preventive tyre sealant as per specification
M80Z8030 / 66 / 103 / 8877.
ONLY OKO could match the specification.
Q. What is the significance and relevance of the specification
code,- M80Z 8030 / 66 / 103 / 8877?.
A. This reference is a S.E.A.T.O. product code for OKO Tyre Sealant given
to OKO product circa 1980. It was attained after the OKO product was subjected
to rigorous and extensive tests by The Australian Armed Forces.
Q. What are the major benefits of using OKO z7 Tyre Sealant?
A. The major benefits of using OKO z7 Tyre sealant Concentrate are:-
a. punctures and flat deflated tyres are stopped;
b. punctures are permanently sealed as you drive;
c. idle time and vehicle downtime are avoided;
d. conventional puncture repair costs are eliminated;
e. "run flat" situations that can ruin a tyre are avoided;
